How To Connect RV Hookups
Print Email We’re now nearly three months into our third trip and one of the recurring problems from the previous tours is the matter of drying hair. Sophie, who has lovely long blonde hair, hates not being able to blow dry it properly. We tried all manor of 12v hair dryers which varied from pathetic to down right dangerous with melting wires and popping fuses. In the end she settled to dry it using the hot air vents in the cab, which in Summer was a bit overpowering! There are two types of inverter, pure sine and modified sine wave. Pure sine wave is the better type which is exactly the same as the electricity you have at home. We purchased a Ring w Inverter – this particular model suited us for a number of reasons: Built in low battery voltage alarm and shutdown, over voltage, overload and temerature protection. LED Display – showing both battery voltage and watts consumed.

Volkswagen Autosleeper Clubman GL, a typical European campervan The term motorhome is sometimes used interchangeably with campervan, but the former can also be a larger vehicle than a campervan and intended to be more comfortable, whilst the latter is more concerned with ease of movement and lower cost. Campervans usually have a small kitchen with a refrigerator which is often powerable by a choice of gas, battery, or mains electricity and a two-burner gas hob and grill.
They generally have dual-voltage lighting which can work from either a dedicated battery other than the van battery known as a deep-cycle or leisure battery, or from AC power , supplied at a campsite via a hook-up cable. Larger models may include a water heater, space heating and air conditioning, a portable toilet and even an internal shower. Smaller models often carry a “porta-potty” portable toilet, and sometimes an external shower which operates within the privacy of an awning.

Towing a Saturn Towing a Saturn is easy. There is nothing to do but hook the car up and go. There are no speedometer disconnects the odometer on the Saturn does not show towed miles. There are no special pumps or lock-outs Saturn designed the car for towing. The only real problem you might face is disinformation. There are a bunch of people on the newsgroups that give opinions without having much experience upon which to draw their opinion.
There are still quite a number of people out there who are unaware a car, be it a Saturn or a host of other cars, can be towed without a trailer. They will tell you it is “terribly dangerous” and you’ll ruin your transmission in the first few miles”. Others will tell you you can’t hook into the Saturn’s lights. I even had someone tell me that the problem with hooking up the lights in a Saturn is that there was super-secret wiring that was not even in the service manuals!
Verify what you here with people who are towing Saturns. Your first question to a know-it-all should be “are you now or have you ever towed a Saturn”.
UK & Ireland Motorhome Hire
What’s it all about? At home we don’t really think much about power sources and capacities – it’s all there ‘on tap’. In our motorhomes things are rather different, we need a portable and reliable heat source source and while you can ‘have a hook-up’ to mains electricity on site, that may not always be convenient. Vehicles normally rely on 12 volt batteries for mobile power but this just isn’t powerful enough for heating.
For example if you used your battery to run a small 1kW fire for space heating or the same power ring for cooking it would take 85 amps from your leisure battery which would then last only about half an hour before needing a major recharge!

Please be guided accordingly. Practical Tips For Towing The following tips were compiled from an inquiry that I made several weeks ago regarding practical tips for towing in the Yahoo Bounder Group and in the www. These tips were compiled from group replies and personal e-mails from both groups. I would like to thank all the persons who shared their tips. By far the most tips had to do with developing a good check list and using it for hooking up and unhooking the toad.
Keep a copy of the checklist in the toad and in the RV.

Share Tweet There unfortunately is not a perfect procedure for connecting your utility RV hookups. Awareness Be sure to get a spot in a campground that has the appropriate RV hookups for your type of rig and has enough room to accommodate the size. The coveted pull through sites are always a plus! Find the site hookups and see if you can keep the sewer connection as close to the RV as possible.
Have a look around the site before pulling in to get a good feeling for how you want to be positioned. You RV should have the door side pointing toward the available space where you can have tables, chairs, and possibly a campfire. Watch out for overhead issues like tree limbs. Watch that satellite dish dome if you have one.
Polk Somebody recently asked me what I enjoyed the most about RVing. It didn’t take long for me to respond that it was the people you meet at the campground. I don’t know of anywhere else that you can meet complete strangers and within a couple of hours feel as if you’ve known them forever. People at campgrounds are some of the friendliest most helpful people you will ever meet.

Read on if you want to learn how to use our electric hook-up facility safely and efficiently. There are two main ways you can power electrical devices on the campsite. The first is to use a leisure battery, which is like a car battery and provides a 12V supply, and the second is an electric hook-up. Most commercial campsites in the UK will offer electric hook-ups on some or all of their pitches, we have 46 here at the Red Shoot Camping Park.
