Wrinkles in a vinyl liner pool Rob Cox , April 3, Wrinkles in a vinyl liner pool Wrinkles in your vinyl liner. Not pretty to look at, and also causes some vinyl liner performance issues. Wrinkles in a vinyl lined pool can create some problems such as: Pool liner wrinkles caused by chemicals: If you keep your pool chlorine level consistently high, or your pool pH level consistenl y low – you could develop puckering in your pool liner.
It can be a localized problem, due to chlorine coming in direct contact with the liner, or it can be widespread. Often this is accompanied by a lightening or bleaching of the vinyl. These are not good signs, and I can offer no solution, other than reducing your daily chlorine levels, and using caution while shocking the pool. Unfortunately, this type of liner wrinkle cannot be reversed, or easily removed. High chlorine and low pH can be very corrosive, and it literally sucks the plasticizer from the vinyl, causing the liner to contract and pucker.
Pool liner wrinkles caused by underground water: An unfortunate situation, caused by a rising water table, with no topographical escape for the water pressure beneath the pool. Hydrostatic pressure can be so great in rare situations, that it can lift a concrete pool out of the ground – and it can much more easily push up a vinyl liner. It will appear as a bump under the liner, like a giant air bubble.

This is so enough current will flow to trip out the gfci breaker on any overcurrent fault.
Jul 06, · I do it the same way as posted above – I hook up the hose to the vac head/pole, put that in the pool, flip the pump to high speed, burp the hose by putting it up to a return to force all of the air out of the hose, move the hose over to the skimmer while keeping it under water so no air re-enters the hose, turn the pump off, take the weir out.
Only do this if you know you are going to have 2 or 3 days of good weather. If not, wait until you do. If a storm or high winds or even mild ones comes up, you run the risk of having a pool collapse. I drained my pool the day before Charlie showed up. I put the pool vac head on the vacuum hose and centered it in the lowest part of the pool. I set the pump to drain and proceeded to water my lawn with gallons of water.
It only took about 5 hours to drain all but the last inch of water. This will expose the screws that hold down the top rails going around the pool. You will want to wait until the pool is drained down to the last inch or two to remove the rails. And keep them separate. I put mine in zip-top baggies and labeled them with a marker.
The cap screws will be different from the rail screws so keep them separate. Once the pool is drained you can disconnect the pump from the skimmer and the inlet.
